The Field Surveillance Inspection System (FIS) electronically records and monitors upstream oil and gas activities and installations. Its aim is to build an automated and integrated approach to Field Surveillance inspection activities and data management. The diagram below provides an overview of the functions of FIS available through the ERCB Digital Data Submission (DDS) Web site.

FIS on the Web consists of the following:
submitting mandatory and non-mandatory (courtesy) notifications
viewing and submitting surveillance inspection follow-up information
viewing compliance status and provincial enforcement history
viewing provincial enforcement history and compliance status
viewing surveillance drilling activity for spud information
Note: You may only have access to one or more parts of the FIS system. Your corporate Digital Data Submission (DDS) administrator determines your access rights.
The Alberta Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) uses FIS to track notifications, incidents, prioritize inspections based on OSI level (Operator performance, Sensitivity, and Inherent risk), and monitor compliance provincially.
This on-line help system explains:
how to submit new mandatory and non-mandatory notifications
how to save and edit draft notifications for 30 days before submission
